What began as a desire to understand and apply God's Word in my own life has become a passion for others to understand His Word and apply it to life as well. I believe this is how we understand the great love of God as our Father, find freedom in Christ and enjoy the power of the Holy Spirit working in us and through us.
For the past fifteen plus years, using creative ways to teach middle and high school students, has been a focus. I love helping them to connect the God of the Bible to the God of their life today. What a thrill it has also been to speak to various groups, teaching the Word and revealing the wounds life can throw us, specifically highlighting how God has brought healing and wholeness to my own life. What a joy to watch as God uses our struggles to help others. It is the body of Christ at its finest.
Occasionally teaching the congregation of Grace Fellowship Church in Kinston, NC, (with my Pastor's blessing and under the authority of our Elders) has been quite a privilege, as well as speaking at women's retreats and conferences.
Sponsored by Son Set Ministries (www.thesonsetrefuge.org), I am also part of the team that puts on a youth mission event in Kinston, NC, called Erasing the Lines. Primarily, I write the devotionals and speak at our evening worship sessions. It has been humbling to watch how God has enabled Erasing the Lines to teach and empower youth to be God's hands and feet in their own city. Finally, I love to lead mission teams in the Dominican Republic and write devotionals for the short-term experience there.
So, travelling from NC, to Atlanta, GA, to the Dominican Republic - what a thrill it is to connect with others and carry God's message. The Groups may change, but the central message of the Bible and our need for God never changes.
